Meet the CEO Beauty Additions

Hi Friends,

We get up close and personal with one of Benue’s finest entrepreneur, picture model and Make-up Artist, Doris  John Akpereshi.

Tell us a bit about yourself.

I am Doris John Akpereshi. I’m a professional Make-up artist, Photo Model, Entrepreneur and The CEO/Founder of  Beauty  Additions. Am Tiv by Tribe and proudly Benue too. I am single. Passionate about the Artistry in the Make up Industry and teaching ladies how to apply make-up, do’s and don’ts, different types of make-up and how to work it as well as tips and tricks.

Educational Background:

I attended Robert .F. Kennedy and Gboko International Nursery and Primary School where I obtained my First School Leaving Certificate. I later went Queen of the Rosary Secondary School Gboko, Benue State and graduated in 2004. In my quest of more knowledge, she proceeded to College of Education Katsina-Ala, and graduated in 2009 from the department of English/Political science. Still not satisfied with my level of education, I further enrolled into Benue State University where I graduated with B.Ed. English language.

How did you start your Makeup journey?

I started my Make-up journey in 2014 when I was on national service, where I enrolled in skill acquisition and entrepreneurship program offered to us by National Youth Service Corps (NYSC).

What inspired you to settle for Makeup?

I was inspired to settle for Make Up because i believed in my talented in Make-Up artistry and I have a passion for fashion and good looks.

If you weren’t doing makeup what would you have done?

 Coming from my university background which has to do with Education, I would have actually settled for a teaching job.

What’s your Signature look?

My signature look is extreme jazzy.

What makeup items can’t you do without and can be found in your hand bag at all times?

 I guess that will be my concealer and foundation.

What do you love most about what you do? And what do you find most challenging?

I love the transformations, from ordinary to extraordinary as well as the reaction from my clients after I’ve dolled up their faces – it’s always priceless. I also love the fact that I’m doing what I love. The most challenging job I ever handled was doing three bridal jobs same day and I was able to go through with it by been fast and working within the stipulated time.

Share your worst experience with a Client?

My worst experience with my client was when she mistakenly damaged my Make-up product

Five years from now where do you see yourself?

I see myself selling my own Make-up brand five years from now.

What 5 Random items can’t you do without?

That will be Face primer, Eye-shadow primer, Eye shadows, Concealer and Matte foundation.

Who inspires you globally and locally?

 Tara, Fela Durotoye inspires me both locally n globally

What makes your business standout?

My unique style of work makes my business to stand out.

How do you stay ahead of competition?

I stay ahead of competition by following new trends, developing myself and been up to date in d Make-up artistry.

Any advice for upcoming aspiring Makeup artist.

My advice to upcoming Make-up artist is that they should make determination and commitment as their watch words.
